Golf GTI
The fascination of the GTI

1976: Volkswagen produces the Golf GTI, the world's first compact sports car. The concept is widely copied on a national and international scale - but the original remains unmatched.
2004: Like its famous predecessor, the Golf GTI also embodies pure power, pure dynamism and sportiness through and through.
The centre of power

The heart of the Golf GTI is the newly developed 2.0 l FSI turbo engine delivering 147 kW (200 bhp) of power (CO2 emissions: 190-194 g/km**). This turbocharged direct-injection unit develops 280 Nm of torque, propelling the car to 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds and pushing it to a top speed of 235 km/h.
